Percutan hair transplantation technique, also known as Perkutan in Turkish, is the leading technique in Turkey for achieving exceptional results in restoring natural hair density.
With ongoing advancements in medical technology, Turkish hair transplant centers have kept pace and improved the techniques used in this procedure, such as the Percutan technique, resulting in shorter surgery times, faster recovery periods, and, most importantly, higher success rates.
As a result, the anxiety associated with hair transplantation has decreased, reflecting the growing popularity of this procedure in Turkey among both men and women.
At Camilia Clinic, with four branches in Istanbul, we take pride in being the pioneers of the Perkutan procedure for hair transplants, as demonstrated by the timestamps on the photographs and videos featured on our website and social media platforms.
Therefore, our specialists have prepared this publication to address all your inquiries regarding the Perkutan FUE procedure, including its definition, mechanism of action, cost, and distinctions from alternative hair transplant methods.
What is the Percutan Fue Technique?
The word “percutan” is an abbreviation of the Latin word “percutaneous,” meaning “performed through the skin.”
Consequently, Percutan hair transplant is a method that involves creating channels for hair in the balding area and implanting follicles using a very fine needle with an angled, sharp tip, similar to a syringe needle.
Thus, Percutan FUE and Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) are similar techniques in that both rely on a needle rather than a blade.
Contrary to some claims, it’s not an electronic device; rather, it’s a tool developed by physicians. Additionally, it differs from traditional surgical incision methods.
This technique requires the following from the doctor:
- More effort is required compared to other hair transplant techniques.
- Higher skill due to the ability to create more channels to implant more hair grafts.
- Intense focus on the angle of hair growth, which is the most important factor for those seeking natural-looking hair transplant results.
These requirements distinguish it from other methods that use a blade to create hair channels.
Steps of Perkutan Hair Transplant Surgery in Turkey (Video)
The Percutan hair transplant procedure follows the same steps as the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique, including:
- Preparation,
- Anesthesia,
- Hairline Design,
- Follicle Extraction,
- Subsequently, the percutaneous technique is used, where channels are created (the primary distinction among all FUE techniques),
- Ultimately, the harvested hair follicles are implanted in their specified sites.
You can watch a video of all stages of hair transplantation.
Conversely, this video illustrates the Percutan technique and its indispensable function due to its exceptional precision. (Please observe the instrument in the doctor’s hand with great care.)
Advantages of Percutan FUE Hair Transplantation
The Percutan technique differs from other Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) methods in several ways, including:
- Employing a needle for follicle implantation eliminates the necessity for surgical incisions at the transplant locations, hence averting any conspicuous red scarring post-procedure.
- Reduced discomfort and enhanced safety for the recipient area.
- A shorter recovery period and less discomfort for the patient.
- The most important advantage of the Percutan hair transplant process is the ability to control the density and direction of hair growth, which determines the final shape and result.
- High hair density: This method allows the doctor to implant 50-60 hair follicles per square centimeter.
Therefore, it is possible to transplant 6,000 or more hair follicles and completely cover baldness, provided that the donor area allows the surgeon to extract a high number of follicles.
On the other hand, most other techniques, due to the surgical incisions made during the implantation phase, do not allow for the implantation of more than 40 follicles per square centimeter.
All these advantages guarantee optimal hair transplant outcomes.
In the interest of medical and professional integrity, no procedure, including the Percutan technique, can implant 70 or 80 hair follicles per square centimeter. Therefore, hair transplantation has certain limitations.
Furthermore, it is rare to find a patient with a high hair density in their donor area and extract a large number of hair follicles in a single session, as demonstrated by the before-and-after photos of our client from Saudi Arabia. On that day, we implanted 7,000 hair follicles in one session using the Percutan approach.
Hair transplant treatments employing the Percutan technology at Camilia Clinic in Turkey have achieved remarkable success, with patients obtaining the natural look they desire. This method has proven to be the optimal treatment for complete baldness.
It’s also the most prominent factor that placed Camilia Clinic on the list of the best hair transplant clinics in Turkey, as it’s among the clinics that most frequently use this approach.
Cost of Percutan Hair Implantation Technique
Hair transplants utilizing the Percutan procedure are slightly more expensive than other FUE methods, costing $2,100 USD or more.
This is due to the fees charged by specialists in this technology, as well as the lengthy procedure time required to transplant a significant number of hair follicles in a single session.
A high-density hair transplant procedure can last up to 8 hours if 6,500 to 7,000 hair follicles are transplanted.
You can find detailed information about hair transplant costs in Turkey in US dollars and euros.

Important Information Regarding Perkutan Hair Transplant
We intend to highlight two key points:
- Only a few clinics in Istanbul and across Turkey employ the Perkutan hair transplant process.
After taking a look at the device, you can search for videos or pictures that confirm its use in clinics and hair transplant hospitals that claim to use it.
Currently, only three female doctors in Istanbul use this method. Two of them are linked with Camilia Clinic, while the third runs her own private practice. - There is no other name or development for the Percutan technology, such as “Nano Percutan” or anything comparable. This is a typical mistake. Please verify this information.
Perkutan FUE vs Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) Techniques
Since both techniques rely on needles, Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) can be considered an evolution of the Perkutan technique, both in form and substance.
However, there are some key differences:
- The DHI approach does not require a channel opening stage; it creates the channels and implants the follicles simultaneously.
- Although the Perkutan technique requires a channel creation stage, it is still faster than the DHI method, as demonstrated in the videos.
- The DHI technique allows for the transplantation of up to 6,000 hair follicles in a single session using the final generation, “DHI Pro,” while the Perkutan approach allows for the transplantation of 7,000 hair follicles.
- In terms of safety, both procedures are acceptable, but DHI is safer and more reliable, so we prefer it.
- Perkutan hair transplant is more expensive than the DHI procedure.
In conclusion, if a patient needs 6,000 or fewer hair follicles, DHI hair transplantation is the optimal choice. And for larger areas of baldness, Perkutan and Sapphire FUE techniques are the most suitable.
