Before deciding on natural hair transplantation in Turkey—or any other country—you have the right to inquire about the most suitable technique: whether it is the traditional FUE method or the Percutan FUE technique.
Camilia Clinic in Istanbul will show you the difference between them in a video, highlighting how incisions are made during the hair transplant procedure and the speed at which they are performed. They will also explain the price difference between the two.
So, without further ado, let’s get straight to the details.
Traditional FUE vs. Percutan FUE (with Video)
These two techniques are used during the most crucial stage of the FUE hair transplant procedure: channel creation.
This stage determines the appearance of the hair and the final results after a hair transplant surgery. The holes must be opened at specific angles that align with the natural direction of hair growth.
Furthermore, it determines the number of follicles that can be transplanted to the balding area, which is also related to the resulting hair density.
To compare the traditional FUE method with the Perkutan FUE technique, watch the following video (the traditional FUE video is on the left, and the Perkutan video is on the right):
After watching the video, let’s take a quick look at the two techniques:
First, the Perkutan (or Percutan) FUE Technique:
This technique is known for its speed, as it can create 7,000 or more channels in a single session to implant hair follicles in the scalp.
Thanks to its needle-like shape and high precision, the channels are made without bleeding or discomfort for the patient. The needle tip is also designed at a special angle that allows for precise punctures in the direction of hair growth.
Therefore, this technique leaves no scars after the hair transplant procedure and features a very quick recovery period.
Second, the Traditional FUE Technique:
As shown in the video, the classic FUE technique is similar in speed to the Perkutan technique; however, it cannot implant more than 5,000 hair follicles in a single session because it uses a blade to create the punctures, requiring a safe distance between them.
Furthermore, the classic FUE technique is less precise than the Perkutan technique, which uses a very fine needle.
As a consequence, the traditional FUE technique leaves scars after hair transplant surgery, resulting in a longer recovery period.
In conclusion: Traditional FUE vs. Percutan FUE — Which Technique Should You Choose?
The Percutan technique differs from the traditional Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique in the following ways:
- It is used for high-density hair transplantation, where more than 5,500 hair follicles are implanted.
- It provides natural-looking results for the transplanted hair.
- The recovery period after hair transplantation is shorter.
While the traditional Follicular Unit Extraction technique differs from the Percutan technique only in its lower cost, which can be up to half the price of hair transplantation using the Percutan technique, the latter is still considered more expensive than other hair transplantation techniques.
Accordingly, if the patient is not concerned about the cost of hair transplantation in Turkey, the Percutan technique is recommended.
However, if cost is a significant factor for the patient, the traditional FUE technique will suffice, especially since modern medications help patients reduce the side effects of the hair transplant procedure.
